Sitting With What’s Right in Front of You

I went for a walk today. Nothing special. Just moving my body and getting some fresh air.
As I was walking down some steps, I stopped for a moment and looked ahead. The trees were full and green, the sun was coming through the leaves, and the sky was bright blue. It was simple, but it felt peaceful.
And it made me think about how often we walk straight past moments like this.
Most of the time our mind is somewhere else. We’re thinking about the next thing we have to do, something that happened earlier, or something we’re worried about. Even when we’re walking, we’re often not really there. We’re rushing, scrolling, listening to something, or just lost in our heads.
But when you stop, even for a minute, something shifts. You notice the air, the quiet, the light coming through the trees. Nothing about the moment is dramatic, but it feels grounding.
It reminded me that a lot of life is actually happening in these ordinary moments. Not the big milestones or achievements, but the small pieces in between.
A path.
Some trees.
A bit of sunlight.
We just don’t always stop long enough to see it.
Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is pause for a moment and take in what’s already there. No rushing, no trying to get somewhere else.
Just sitting with what’s right in front of you. 🌿
