A Humbling Reminder to Be Grateful

This morning started like so many others — small irritations, little frustrations, the kind that feel bigger than they are in the moment. I carried them with me without really questioning why.
Then I sat with someone who shared a deeply moving story — one of safety, relocation, and beginning again from nothing. Listening to them, I felt the weight of perspective settle in. It was a reminder that every person is carrying their own history, their own journey, and that simply getting up each day and continuing forward is an act of courage.
Working with people in this way is humbling. It reminds me that gratitude isn’t about denying hardship or pretending everything is fine. It’s about recognising that, even with life’s challenges, there is so much to value and protect in our own lives.
We’re all walking our own path. The greatest act of grace we can offer — to ourselves and to others — is to honour that path, be present for it, and be grateful for what we’ve got. It’s a gentler, easier way to live.
